The camera screen of the Fenix 7 (p20) has a glass that is only 0.3 mm thick. This makes it very sensitive (like your finger touching it). I have always scratched it with hard objects but never scratched the instinct 1 so far.Also, the 4.5” screen of the Fenix 7 has a hole for a 3.5” display. I always use it. But I haven’t scratched the screen at all.The glass on the display of the instinct 1 is only 0.3 mm and it has a protective cover which is often rubbed. But I don’t think this has made a scratch so far.When I had the Fenix 7 I tried to clean the screen from time to time (I don’t need to because the scratch protection makes it), but I never put my finger to it to see if it is scratch free or not.I have worn the Fenix 7 with a t-shirt and a long sleeved top since the first days. I wear it 24/7 and I never touched it with any hard objects. I am only using it for 1 or 2 hours in a day. I never carry it in my pocket, but I don’t see any scratches yet.Yes, I can’t judge about the fenix’s display because I haven’t seen one.
The screen of the Fenix 7 is so thin and sensitive that even a scratch is easily visible. I would be very surprised if the screen of the instinct 1 is more scratch resistant because it is much thicker and it is not so thin and sensitive as the Fenix 7’s screen.Yes, I would recommend the instinct 1 to anyone who wants to buy a flashlight for the first time. But if a user already has a Fenix 7, I don’t see a reason to buy the instinct 1 because he or she already has a great light with a scratch resistant screen. I ordered an instinct 2, the 2s and finally the fenix 7. I wear them as a daily driver without a case. The fenix 7 is the best out of the 3. The 2 is very bright, but the black screen of the 2s has the most readable display. The instinct 2 has good visibility.
For general visibility, I think the fenix 7 is better than the instinct 2.The camera is easy to use and you can quickly see what time it is with the display screen. The fenix 2 has a built in compass and gps (I believe) but they don’t look very good and I like the fenix 7s display better. I can see my current location and direction with the fenix 7 while the fenix 2 and 2s have a lot of blurring and distortion. The fenix 7 has a clear display and is as good as any other.
I did bought a fenix 7 too after half a year but now I do not wear it everyday. Maybe 1 or 2 days a week. I have the Fenix 6 so to say.It is very good but the fast charging of the battery is only possible with a micro-USB instead of a standard one. I missed this feature with the Fenix 6. I use it mainly for sport and hiking and sometimes even driving. Also with it being a headlamp I could even use the beam for driving.
The fenix 7 seems to have a lot more lumens. But it is not as bright as the instinct 2s. They both are comparable to the old ultra, but the fenix 7 has much better UI, a few features the ultra lacks. And the charging time is much faster with the fenix 7. 827ec27edc
